On World Elder Abuse Awareness Day, we encourage everyone to take a moment to learn the signs of elder abuse, which can take many forms including physical, financial, psychological, sexual or neglect.

This International Nurses Day, Silverchain is highlighting a simple truth: Australia cannot meet its future care needs without enabling nurses to work to their full scope of practice.

Across the country, community‑based nurses already deliver complex and acute care every day. Our experience shows that when nurses are supported to work to the full extent of their education and professional capability, care becomes more accessible, more efficient, and more sustainable.

As Australia adapts to the health needs of the 21st century, modernising scope‑of‑practice settings is an important part of building a system that is both high‑quality and financially sustainable. This includes reviewing rules, funding models, and long‑standing practices that limit nurses to delegated, task‑based care rather than recognising their professional competence.

For more than 130 years, Silverchain has pioneered nurse‑led models of care, improving the health of multiple generations of Australians. These models demonstrate what is possible when nurses are enabled to practise independently and to their full scope.
