Our Story

Have you always wanted to learn the violin or viola?

Have you learnt in the past and would like to reconnect with old skills?

Would you like to have fun learning in a group with other like-minded adults?

Adult violin/viola classes are held Thursday evenings in school terms at Jolimont Primary School. The groups are small (max 6-8 depending on level), and contain a variety of activities including physical warm-ups, ear-training, playing technique, music reading and ensemble skills. The music is ensemble based (as opposed to everyone playing in unison) so that students are able to learn the skills required to play in groups with other musicians - which is where the fun of playing is!

Classes are taught by Margaret Schlink, an experienced violin and viola teacher with a special interest in adult students and adult group teaching. She has a Masters degree which focused on adult group learning. She is founder and director of the Perth Scottish Fiddlers, a member of the fiddle group Hot Toddy and a violist with the Fremantle Symphony Orchestra.

Prerequisites: interest and enthusiasm!
