🚨Helicopter Ditching🚨
An S-92 helicopter has ditched into the sea off the coast of Norway while in training for oil firm Equinor, leaving one crew member dead.

Six people were recovered from the crash and taken to hospital in Bergen on Wednesday evening, though one fatality has since been confirmed.

The other five crew members have “varying levels of injuries”, according to a statement from operator Bristow late last night.

The search and rescue (SAR) helicopter, registered LN-OIJ, went down at 19.40 CET on Thursday, around nine nautical miles west of Bergen while on a training exercise for Equinor, Bristow confirmed.

The six people on board include two pilots.

Equinor and Bristow said efforts are underway to collect information, but the cause is not yet known.

The state-backed oil firm said it has suspended all of its regular helicopter flights on the Norwegian continental shelf until 1pm CET on Thursday 29 February.

Flights in the UK are also being suspended by the firm

OSLO, Feb 29 - One person died and five were injured when a helicopter crash-landed in the ocean off western Norway, police said on Thursday, leading to a temporary halt in transport to and from the country's offshore oil and gas platforms.
The Sikorsky S-92 aircraft operated by Bristow Norway was on a search and rescue training mission on Wednesday when the accident occurred, officials have said.
The six people on board were hoisted from the sea by rescue workers, but one was later declared dead in hospital, police said in a statement on Thursday.

One of the five survivors had only light injuries while the other four had suffered varying degrees of injury, the police added.
The cause of the accident was not immediately known. Lockheed Martin (LMT.N), opens new tab company Sikorsky, which manufactured the helicopter, said on Wednesday that safety was its top priority and that it stood ready to support the investigation.
Energy group Equinor (EQNR.OL), opens new tab said the helicopter was a search and rescue aircraft normally serving platforms at the company's Oseberg oil and gas field in the North Sea.

"Everyone on board the helicopter was on an assignment for Equinor. Our key task now is to help take care of those involved," CEO Anders Opedal said in a statement.
Following the accident, Equinor halted all regular helicopter flights to its oil and gas platforms in Norway out of consideration for those affected and to get an overview of the situation.
"The company aims to get the helicopters back to normal operation quickly and is now making the necessary preparations to achieve this safely," Equinor said

🫣RIG HORROR🫣 Tributes pour in for ‘beautiful soul’ oil worker who was ‘bludgeoned to death by roommate’ in Qatar ‘murder’

TRIBUTES were paid to a “one-of-kind” oil worker allegedly murdered on a Qatar oil rig.

Robert Robson, 38, is believed to have just become a dad for the second time before the tragedy in the Middle East.

Scott Forrest is accused of murdering Robert

It’s claimed he was on the verge of flying home to South Shields, Tyne and Wear, when he died.

In a statement the tragic father’s family, including partner Kirstie Graham, said: “Robbie was an amazing, one-of-a-kind, beautiful soul.

“He was a loving partner, dad, son, brother and uncle who was tragically taken too soon.

“He was an irreplaceable friend to many, and Robbie will be sorely missed by everyone that knew him.

“As a family, we request privacy at this time.”

Scott Forrest, from Maud, Aberdeenshire, is accused of murdering Robert on the Seafox Burj rig.

It’s alleged he battered him to death with a breathing apparatus tank then tried to hide the body.

When colleague Chris Begley stumbled into the bloodbath he was also attacked and whacked over the head with a pipe.

A friend of said everyone was in shock at what had happened.

He said: “Robbie was just a fantastic guy.

“He was about to come off the rig for a family wedding.

"This was a guy who had everything to live for and everything ahead of him.

“He was over there earning a living trying to make a few pounds for his family.

“It is beyond tragic. No one deserves this.”

Cops in Qatar flew out to the rig after the incident in the early hours of Monday.

It’s understood Forrest, 43, could face the death penalty. But it’s claimed Robert’s family could be asked their opinion on what should happen to the ‘killer’.

Under Qatar law it’s understood they could get a say on whether he gets to stay locked up for life rather than being hung or shot.

But the friend added: “There is absolutely no question it should be a life for a life.

“I’d be extremely surprised if anyone wanted to show any mercy here given what’s happened.

“Everyone is just in total and absolute shock because he was such a brilliant lad.”

Chris Begley was hospitalised following the alleged attack but was released and is now home in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire.

Cops are still trying to piece together exactly what happened.

A spokesman for Qatar’s Ministry of Interior said: “Law enforcement authorities are investigating a 12 December incident at an offshore facility.

“The incident involved three British nationals working for a contractor company.

“One individual sustained fatal injuries, another was hospitalised and released.

“A third individual has been detained as part of a criminal investigation by the relevant authorities.”
