Kaya Subi Families,

We were delighted to welcome Brenton Tacker back to our service for his second visit, where he continued sharing Noongar language and First Nations culture with the children.

Brenton engaged the children through singing and a fun “Find the Colour” game using Noongar language words in our classroom. During mat session, the children also continued learning about Australian native animals in Noongar language through reading the book *It’s Not My Yongka* (“Yongka” means kangaroo in Noongar language).

The children responded so positively to Brenton’s warm, open, and kind nature, and were excited to participate throughout the session.

Through our ongoing sessions with Brenton, we hope to provide meaningful opportunities for children to build curiosity, knowledge, and respect for First Nations culture and language through authentic connections, interactions, and learning experiences with community member.

Tag Sports at Tall Tree Early Learning Subiaco!

Kaya Families,

Over the next three weeks, we are excited to introduce children to the empowering world of Martial Arts, a fun and engaging program designed to build confidence, coordination, and self-control through age‑appropriate movement and play.

We will begin by exploring fundamental martial arts skills such as balance, posture, safe movement, and controlled actions. Through imaginative games, simple stances, and gentle kicking and punching activities (always practised in the air or on soft targets), children will develop body awareness, coordination, and focus in a safe and supportive environment.

As the program progresses, children will take part in challenges that promote listening skills, respect, and self‑regulation. Activities will encourage balance, agility, and reaction speed, helping children learn how to move with control while building confidence in their abilities. Team games will also support cooperation, turn‑taking, and encouragement of peers.

To wrap up our martial arts journey, children will combine all the skills they’ve learned through fun movement circuits and role‑play challenges that celebrate effort, discipline, and personal growth. Every child will have the opportunity to showcase their progress, feel proud of their achievements, and enjoy the joy of active participation.

These three weeks at Subiaco, Led by Coach Ella and Coach Cameron promise a wonderful mix of movement, learning, and confidence‑building through Martial Arts. Get ready to balance, focus, kick, and move with purpose — we can’t wait to see everyone in action!

Kaya Tall Tree Subiaco families,

Children are naturally curious about the world around them and are always open to new experiences, discoveries, and knowledge. As educators, we have noticed a growing curiosity around light and shadows across the service. To support this interest, children were invited to participate in shadow play experiences where they could experiment with shadows of different sizes, colours, and objects.

These experiences consistently capture children’s attention and encourage an experimental and exploratory attitude towards the world around them. Through open-ended play, children are supported to investigate, problem-solve, express creativity, and build confidence in their own ideas and learning processes.

It has been wonderful to observe the children’s enthusiasm, imagination, and desire to learn as they explored and discovered through play.
