Advice from a stylist: you outerwear is worth investing in. For a two main reasons:
1) it’s your protective layer so choose pieces that actually do what they should and protect you from the cold, rain or wind. Good quality outerwear really does make a difference.
2) outerwear can completely transform your outfits and not only elevate your outfits but create greater versatility in your wardrobe. Especially when you choose styles that speak to your own personal style. It seems a shame to spend effort putting together an outfit only to then not consider the last layer that goes on top.

So yes while some outerwear like a coat can only be worn for a short time of the year, when it’s the last visible layer to your outfits it’s worthwhile investing in some that you love to wear. And no “investment” doesn’t mean you have to spend an exxy amount of money, for me as a stylist anytime you purchase clothing (no matter what you spend) it’s an investment, not just of money but also of valuable wardrobe space.
