We're co-creating the world we're in, as we're in it.

What a huge and rewarding week it was for the Sensory Storytelling team as they travelled the Pilbara last week as part of the Red Earth Arts Festival!

The week began in Port Hedland at Cassia Education Support Centre, where the team delivered Wombat Stew sensory storytelling sessions to three wonderful classes of students, before travelling to Roebourne District High School to share the work with the younger students.

The journey continued in Karratha with Here is the Sea Rhyme Time sessions for families at Karratha Library, followed by a professional learning Q&A with library staff.

Creative Learning Coordinator Holly Campbell shared: “It has been incredibly special to share our work with students and families across the regions who rarely get to experience Sensorium’s work in person.”

The team then headed to Wickham and Dampier Libraries for more Here is the Sea sessions and professional learning opportunities with local library staff.

Holly added: “We’re so grateful to all the schools, libraries, educators, families and children who have welcomed us so warmly throughout the week.”

Sensorium’s work in the Pilbara was hosted by The Red Earth Festival and further supported by Channel 7 Telethon and The Stan Perron Charitable Foundation.
Thank you.

2025 at Sensorium: a year of growth and new horizons

This year marked a special milestone. It’s been 16 years since Sensorium’s inception and the release of our first Annual Report, reflecting our continued journey towards stability, sustainability, and impact.

At the heart of everything we do is our commitment to reaching children with disability—deepening our engagement while expanding our reach.

Highlights of the past year:

On the road and beyond
• Our biggest national tour yet with Wonderbox, reaching 9 venues (with more to come in 2026)
• New international audiences, including our first presentation in Hong Kong
• A return to long-standing venue partners who have been part of this journey for a decade

At home in WA
• Reigniting our residency model with Oddysea, piloted across three schools with a new cast
• Six new artists recruited and trained, strengthening our capacity locally and beyond

Investing in our people
We invested in our artists—through sabbaticals, international exchange, mentoring and professional development—because without that creative nourishment, the magic doesn’t happen.

The year ahead
• Snuggleplay, our new work for babies with disability and their families, is in development and set to premiere at the AWESOME Festival this September
• Littlelight, our new sensory story by WA children’s author Kelly Canby, is currently being piloted across partner schools
• Early development is underway for our next school-aged theatre show Rivermouth, led by our Senior Artists Jamie David and Bec Bradley

Growing internationally
We continued our capacity-building work in Southeast Asia, growing our partnership with The Artground Singapore, to present Hutan at OzAsia Festival, as well as working alongside them and artists in Indonesia and Malaysia to share our sensory theatre practice.

With gratitude
We are deeply grateful to our funders, supporters and partners who trust us to take bold, transformative risks with the children and families we serve.
