A massive win for the Hazelmere community – the proposal for what would have been Australia’s largest data centre has been withdrawn!
This absurd development would have used up to 1 billion litres of water per year and devastated the Mandoon Bilya, a conservation category wetland home to threatened species including snake neck turtles and black cockatoos.
But to the Cook Labor Government: let this be a warning. Without a strategy that outlines where we want data centres to go – or if we even want them at all – these unscrupulous proposals will keep coming.
Huge congratulations to everyone who fought so well to see this off, it’s been an honour to support you 🙌

I loved having four of my good friends, who I met on the Social Impact Leadership Australia (SILA) course, up at Parliament House for lunch the other day 💛
These women, like all SILA alumni, are some of the kindest, smartest, and most generous people I’ve ever met. Their commitment to community, ethical leadership, and making the world a fairer place is truly without comparison. It is such a gift to walk this path alongside them.
Left to right:
🌟 Dana Wallace-Campbell (CMO, Everability Group)
🌟 Andrea Creado (CEO, Ishar Multicultural Women’s Health Services Inc)
🌟 Vicki Stephens (Former CEO, Youth Involvement Council Inc.)
🌟 Sharon Gough (CEO, Indigo Junction)
And that’s our unicorn friend in the middle 😂🦄
Also, a special shout-out to the incredible art in the background by Monique Tippett, a Dwellingup-based artist and forest protector! Lost Eden Creative

Just after I made this speech on Thursday, the WA budget was handed down – announcing our EIGHTH consecutive budget surplus of over $2.5 billion.
An additional $106.3 million to family and domestic violence prevention and response was committed – and of course, any investment in this space is welcome.
But against a $2.5 billion surplus and a crisis of this scale, it is mere crumbs off the table 🍞
We will not rest until the sector is fully funded and WA has set and is working tirelessly towards a target of ZERO murdered women and children.

5,586 of you signed. Today, I took your voices to Parliament. 🌿
The message is clear: protect the Northern Jarrah Forest. No deal with Trump’s administration should put our forests, our water, or our environment regulators at risk.
Thank you to every single person who signed the petition. Keep watching this space 💚

Great news! Now for the SAT to reject the proposal. It’s not over yet, but it’s a step in the right direction. Come on SAT! And congratulations to all the incredible advocates for getting the work to protect this special place this far 🌳💚✊🏼
‼️BREAKING NEWS
State Administrative Tribunal has made the decision NOT to reopen the North Stoneville appeal.
Satterley wanted to reopen the case to apply a strata and by-law over the proposed development to prevent the future vegetation of the 1001 lots.
This is not the final decision. We expect that soon.

Bilateral agreements are not only a dangerous deal for the environment, they’re also a bad deal for the taxpayer.

Last week I walked along the Cape to Cape, and camped at , out on Wadandi Country – beautiful coastlines, ancient trees, and great company.
These places – this Country – are extraordinary. I’ll never stop fighting to protect it 💚✊
