Thinking about what life could look like beyond the family home?
For many families, the idea of a son or daughter with disability moving into a home of their own can bring a mix of emotions — hope, excitement, uncertainty, and sometimes fear.
You might be wondering:
Where do we even start?
How do we know if they’re ready?
What supports are available?
How can we make sure they’ll be safe, connected and happy?
These are big questions, and you're not alone in asking them.
My Home My Way is a warm, practical, two-part online workshop designed for families, supporters, and people with disability who are thinking about creating a home of their own.
Through real stories, shared experiences and practical guidance, we'll explore what is possible and help you take those important first steps with confidence.
Together we'll talk about:
✨ Creating a vision for home and the life you want
✨ Building confidence and independence over time
✨ Exploring housing options and creative supports
✨ Navigating fears, barriers and uncertainty
✨ Creating connection, belonging and community
✨ Planning for a safe, stable and meaningful future
There is no one right pathway, and no pressure to have all the answers. This workshop is about exploring possibilities, learning from others who have been on the journey, and discovering that creating a home of your own is achievable.
Because home is more than a house. It's a place to belong.
Our friends from Down Syndrome WA are also collaborating with us for this webinar series.

There is so much uncertainty right now for families navigating the changing NDIS landscape — especially when it comes to home, living arrangements, and what the future might hold for our loved ones.
Many families are feeling worried about limited options, pressure toward group homes, and not knowing what else is possible. But we want you to know… there *are* alternatives, and you do not have to figure this out alone.
At Valued Lives, we believe every person deserves a home where they feel safe, comfortable, connected, and truly themselves — not just a placement.
Join us for My Home My Way, a warm and practical two-part online workshop exploring individualised living arrangements and creative alternatives to traditional group homes. Together, we’ll share stories, ideas, practical steps, and real examples of how people with disability are creating homes and lives that are meaningful, safe, and built around who they are.
This workshop is for families and supporters who want:
✨ Hopeful and practical information
✨ Real conversations about what’s possible
✨ Guidance through fears and uncertainty
✨ Ideas for creating long-term safety, belonging, and stability
✨ Connection with others walking a similar path
You’ll leave feeling more informed, more supported, and more confident about the possibilities ahead.

✨ We were so proud to represent Valued Lives on a global stage this week! ✨
Our team was invited to be part of BHP’s worldwide livestreamed panel in celebration of International Day of People with Disability — alongside amazing speakers and interpreters who helped create a truly inclusive conversation.
We shared stories, insights and real experiences about what inclusion looks like in everyday life… and why it matters. Not just for workplaces, but for communities, families, and the people we stand alongside every day.
A huge thank you to BHP for creating space for lived experience leadership and for shining a light on accessibility and genuine belonging. 💙
Let’s keep championing inclusion — not just on IDPwD, but every day in the way we show up, connect, and make room for everyone.
