Steph P Paints
Artist and designer inspired by colour, nature, and adventure
I had a brief flirtation with architecture back in uni days. I've always loved history and old buildings - and design of course. After a year I changed direction in my studies, but the love of architecture has never left me. I love how the influence of culture, resources, and environment all shape the way we build spaces around us - a single structure can speak volumes about a moment in time. The same goes for art - but not just paintings. Ceramics, poetry, stories, songs, performance. They all talk to each other and shape the environments we live in.

Sometimes it can be really difficult to explain the exact meaning or influence behind my work — there’s just so much that goes into a piece.
I’ve had a few new people follow me recently, so I wanted to give a little insight into how my work comes together.
Most of what shapes my art practice actually has nothing to do with art. It’s the experiences, the music, the travels, the quiet moments… all the things that keep everything feeling fresh and unique.
Motherhood has been a huge part of that. It’s held so much loss and so much joy, often at the same time, and it influences me every single day.
I also chase awe wherever I can. I find this feeling in any way I can, and aim to filter this into my work. Music, poetry, time spent outside, travel - and of course, art - help with this.
These days, our travel as a young family is almost exclusively camping (which I honestly love). My paintings often blend memories of past adventures with the new ones we’re making now — a mix of old places, recent experiences, and the feelings that connect them.
If you’ve connected with me or my work in any way, thank you. This whole journey is a work of love, and I’m really grateful you’re here.
