After years of struggling to land any fulfilling work, finally a real gem has come along. Coincidentally, this is 99 *Hope* street, White Gum Valley.

The clients have a special needs daughter, for whom they're transforming this narrow lot site for, asking for a first floor addition specifically designed around her needs.

While aesthetics play a big part in architecture, for me, the driving force is the humans that occupy the spaces and how the spaces are not only suited to their needs but bring out the best in them.

This is why I am passionate about architecture. It's for people. And the brief has all the hallmarks of a dream job - great location, sustainable considerations, harmony with nature, but most of all for the people who inhabit it. And this is a dream job I am planning to deliver beyond expectations.

Looking forward to this 🤗

Joey is the proud new owner of the famous Duncan Street Store in Victoria Park, much loved by the locals.

He had a lot of difficulty navigating the Australian regulations when he initially purchased the building, and it wasn't as easy as he thought it would be. He had many setbacks with the local Council and regulating bodies. This is where I stepped in and helped him understand the regulations, what he needed to do to get his shop open to be compliant, how to do it in the most cost effective and efficient way in alignment with his budget.

Design is my passion, and rules and regulations are not something I'm awfully fond of, but this is one of the jobs I'm certainly more proud of having helped Joey out with the process and deal with all the stress of managing what can be a very convoluted system if you don't know what you're doing.

Good luck Joey, and if you're a Vic Park local, go and have a coffee and a light meal and support your local businesses!

Passive Houses are a completely different type of house to an "Ordinary House", and different again to a "Sustainable House". With prices of oil rising, and all other utility costs rising, perhaps it's time to start thinking of houses with a new mindset?

Australia's first bushfire-rated 'passive' home costs $3.80 to run Not only can this home withstand bushfire attack, but powering its appliances, lights, and heating and cooling costs as little as a daily cup of coffee.
