Perth's "open mic" burlesque night takes over Lazy Susan's Comedy Den the last Wednesday of every month. Have a act that doesn't fit regular shows?

Important announcement for all friends and fans of Burly Unplugged:

It is with both sadness and excitement as the founder of Burly Unplugged that I make this announcement.

Last night was our last monthly Burly Unplugged show. After 3 years, we will not be returning on the last Wednesday of the month in 2016.

I want to personally thank all of our on stage and off stage supporters of the show past and present. If you have ever come up those stairs on the last Wednesday to watch or perform – THANK YOU.

I feel truly blessed for the community that Burly has created and for the team that works tirelessly with me behind the scenes so I don’t have to be the one woman army I used to be. I shudder when I remember the early days of preparing music and runsheets the night before, moving furniture before the show, catering backstage for the performers, door bitching, MCing the show, and performing (because we didn’t have enough acts) once, sometimes twice all for the same show. Wow how Burly has changed! Our show and performers have been consistently raising the bar every month.

I believe that all good things need to evolve. Burly Unplugged was created to fill a gap and encourage change and growth in the Perth burlesque community. I feel as though Burly Unplugged has served its purpose and the monthly shows have run their course. The Perth burlesque community and scene has changed vastly since I started Burly. The show itself has evolved and grown in many different ways but its time for a drastic change, like caterpillar in a cocoon kind of change.

The Burly Unplugged Community will remain just that, a community and 2016 will be its transformative year. Please keep an eye on this page, the butterfly will emerge and announce some exciting new events in the new year.

Last night we ended the shows on the highest of highs with a celebration of Burly Unplugged and everything that has made it what it is – love, passion, determination, blood (it’s just not Burly unless we are cleaning up blood at the end of the night!), sweat, tears and a whole lot of crazy.

Big love to you all and have a safe and happy holiday period. Be sure to binge on all the amazing shows during Fringe World (stay tuned for some recommendations and reviews from Burly Admin Shy Violet)

This month we're celebrating the year that has been and the year that will be. We're asking our beloved performers what have been their favourite performances of the year and just what made them special. Here's what Pirateman Michael has to say.

The month of newbies!

Back in August we had x4 new Burly performers on our stage. By memory, Kenjai - แก่นใจ, Sammy Sparkles and Dolly Von Blonde all debuted on the Burly stage as well as Scarlett Vivienne Velour's first performance. Miss Gertie Rude stage vixened that night too and it was her first time vixening for us. It was nice having a whole heap of newbies as well as our regular favourites, Miss Luna Storm (should totally win the Burly Burly award for best stage vixen), Violet V, Whiskey, Moustachio and Aye plus Dollar Dazzler our burly friend all together. It was a magical mish mash night of old and new performers and performances, which made that night my favourite Burly moment of the year!

There was also a sparkly new pirate hat that graced and debuted on the Burly stage too >:D

This month is filled with pin up queens and our next performer is no exception. Kenjai - แก่นใจ will be gracing our stage with her own tantalizing mix of burlesque and pin up beauty. As for her favourite spooky film?

I'm not much into scary movies but my favourite movie to watch around Halloween would be Beetlejuice!

And the winner of this month's competition for a double pass to this month's show is...

ALAN HISCOTT!

Congratulations, Alan! Your name will be on the door. Bring your best buddy, your darling doll or your neighbour's pet lizard and strap yourself in for tonight's show.

Keep an eye out for more spooky performer announcers throughout the day!
