The road to recovery is finally complete for this beautiful Northern Giant Petrel from rescue, to rehab, to release! 🌊

This stunning bird was brought to us by our friends at Western Australian Seabird Rescue after being found one cold evening, huddled up and in poor health on a beach in Yanchep.

After a month in care, plenty of weight gained, and its energy fully restored, yesterday was finally the day! Our dedicated team took a boat out into the open ocean to release this beautiful bird back home. 👏🏼

Rehabilitating pelagic birds is no easy task, but thanks to our amazing team, this petrel was given a second chance at life.

When wildlife patients are in the hospital for weeks at a time, they require a massive amount of food, specialised medical supplies, and resources. By donating to our hospital, you directly help us continue our vital contribution to wildlife conservation: https://www.mycause.com.au/page/396011/hospital-upgrades-fundraiser

Keep an out out we've got some great videos we will post soon.

A wonderful update on Dennis the eagle.

You might remember some time ago we posted Dennis when he first arrived here at Perth Wildlife Hospital. We have some very exciting news that yesterday he was successfully released back into the wild in Denmark.

Dennis underwent 5 surgeries over a 2-month period to repair his legs.

Both legs had severe damage, including complete rupture of both tendons responsible for the extension of his toes. Despite his guarded prognosis and severe challenges, Dennis displayed a complete determination to repair, heal and return to the wild.

At PWH, Dr Geri performed multiple tendon repair surgeries and tissue graphs to close large deep wounds on both legs. After months of therapy, bandaging, medications and care we are thrilled to see him return to his home, his family and the wild where the belongs. (Release video to come tomorrow!)

A huge thank you to everyone involved, from rescue, transport, first aid, it took an amazing team to get this beautiful bird back into the wild.
