Did you know Sri Lankan elephants are the largest and darkest of all Asian elephants? 🐘

They're also born with beautiful patches of depigmentation – unique markings on their face, ears, belly, and trunk that are as individual as a fingerprint.

Our elephant patrol teams in Sumatra's Leuser Ecosystem just added a powerful new tool to their conservation toolkit: drones!

Teams recently completed drone training, learning to fly and operate drones for elephant monitoring in the field.

Why it matters:
✅ Drones help track elephant movements across dense forest and difficult terrain
✅ Teams can easily monitor herds without disturbing them
✅ And we can spot early signs of human-elephant conflict, so teams can step in before it escalates

More data. Faster response. Better protection for elephants and the forests they call home.

Big news and a big thank you. 🐘🔥

Our June fundraising campaign for the Way Kambas fire truck has officially closed, and thanks to your incredible generosity, this project is now underway!

Here's what happens next: the Toyota Hilux is heading to a workshop in Jakarta, where it will be transformed into a fully equipped frontline firefighting vehicle. Fitted with a water tank, high pressure pump, bull bar, heavy-duty winch, and reinforced suspension.

If everything stays on track, the finished fire truck will be protecting Way Kambas and its elephants by late July, right before fire season hits its most dangerous point.

This would not be happening without you. Every person who believed in this project helped turn an urgent need into something real. A lasting resource that will protect elephants for years to come. We'll share more the moment the truck is in the field. 🩶
