George and Phyllis Morrison were early Forrestfield residents who are remembered for running the Caltex Service Station on Hale Road.

They moved to Forrestfield during the Depression, settling on Hale Road in 1932. Hale Road was just a track at the time, and George remembered that residents had to go out and fill up the potholes themselves. George and Phyllisโ€™s first home was built out of a pine motor car case. One night they visited a friend a few houses down, leaving their son asleep at home, and while they were out their house caught fire โ€“ their son escaped unharmed, but they lost their home and everything they had brought out from England.

The Morrisons ran several businesses in Forrestfield, the most notable of which was the Caltex Service Station and workshop in Forrestfield. This has since been demolished, and Hale Road now runs through the location of the property.

George served two terms as a Councillor for the Darling Range Roads Board and Shire of Kalamunda between 1953 and 1964. He was also a member of the volunteer fire brigade for many years.
