For many small to medium sized businesses, government grants can provide valuable support to invest in growth and help to bring new projects to life. The challenge is often knowing where to start and how to put together a strong application.

A well prepared grant application takes time, clear strategy, compelling evidence and a thorough understanding of the funding criteria. We've put together a Securing Government Grants Guide that shares practical insights into the application process and what a business should consider before applying.

If you are thinking about applying for a grant, we hope you find it a useful resource. Download it via the link below.

Event organisers can apply for $5,000–$40,000 for events held between 1 July 2027 and 30 June 2028.

RDTI Record Keeping: What you need to know

When assisting with your claim the Axito R&D Team require clear records to back your application. To access the Research & Development Tax Incentive you must keep records that clearly demonstrate your entitlement to the claim, this isn’t optional, it’s a legal requirement.

What your records must show:
🔸 Eligible R&D activities - evidence that the work you’re claiming
is core or supporting R&D.
🔸 Eligible expenditure - proof that the amounts you’re claiming
are correct and relate to allowable R&D costs.

You must create records at the time you conduct the R&D, not months later. While your standard business or tax records may help, they often won’t cover everything required for compliance.

If you are interested in learning more about the R&D application process and your eligibility contact Kushal on 1300 030 090 or email [email protected]

Just one week remains before applications for the R&D Tax Incentive FY26 open!

The Research & Development Tax Incentive is Australia’s flagship program designed to boost industry investment in scientific and technical innovation. Jointly administered by the ATO and AusIndustry, it supports businesses that self‑assess and undertake eligible experimental activities.

Instead of a traditional grant, eligible companies can access a refundable cash benefit or tax offset for a portion of their R&D expenditure when lodging their tax return.

To be eligible, activities must meet the definition of core R&D activities. They must be experimental, aimed at generating new knowledge, and involve outcomes that cannot be known in advance.

The level of financial benefit depends on your company’s size and turnover, with different rates applying to small and large businesses.
