A huge thank you to the Wagin Uniting Patchwork Group for donating 14 beautiful, cosy patchwork quilts to Wyn Carr House – Uniting WA’s new specialist accommodation and support facility for older women facing homelessness.
Uniting WA CEO Jen Park was delighted to receive the quilts, which will help older women feel welcomed and cared for as they begin a new chapter. Older women are now one of the fastest growing groups experiencing homelessness in WA.
Recently opened by Minister for Housing and Works John Carey and Minister for Homelessness Matthew Swinbourn, Wyn Carr House was recently refurbished with support from the WA Government, Lotterywest, Housing All Australians and the local community.
From caring hands to supporting the vulnerable – this is what community connection looks like.

Why are older women the fastest growing group experiencing homelessness?
For many women, a lifetime of inequality leads to insecurity later in life.
Lower superannuation, time out of work caring for others as well as unaffordable housing are placing more older women at risk of homelessness.
At the end of the day, everyone deserves a safe place to call home.
