Sometimes when we put things off for long enough, it feels impossible to start.
Sometimes when we know we want change, we don't know how to begin.
Sometimes we let this uncertainty create an attitude of "it's too hard" or "I can't be bothered."
Then we procrastinate or become "too" busy or make excuses. Then we decide that we were right. It is too hard and we can't be bothered.
Then we feel, at best, stuck. At worst, like a total failure.
What if we made the decision that all we need to do is take one step? What if we didn't focus on all of it, and instead just the very first thing?
That would actually be manageable. That is something we could be bothered with.
One step. Sometimes that is all it takes.

Sometimes we get stuck.
Stuck in the daily routines, stuck in the mundane tasks, stuck in the same conversations, stuck facing the same challenges over and over.
Stuck with having the same experiences and the same results in our jobs or our relationships or our daily lives.
It can feel like groundhog day while running on a hamster wheel.
And here's the thing, here's is a huge reason why we stay stuck - because for some of us, we begin to connect "stuckness" with familiarity. And we connect familiarity with safety and security. So we will tolerate boredom or flatness or lack of inspiration rather than face the uncertainty of creating sustainable and supportive changes.
Yet with any new idea, any new goals, any new aspirations comes uncertainty! We never really know how it's all going to pan out. The only thing we do know is that if we stop evolving, if we stop moving, if we stop wanting, we land right back on that hamster wheel. It's exhausting and we're not getting anywhere.
We all feel stuck sometimes - the question to consider how long will we tolerate it? What are we really waiting for?

Today I noticed some of the little "lovely" moments in the midst of movement and noise. I realise I don't always.
Won't let it happen again.
