🚗 AutoPlus Explains: What’s The Air Filter For?

💨 Your engine needs air to run — but it needs clean air.

Your car’s air filters helps prevent dirt, dust and other contaminants from entering the engine’s air intake.

Over time, the filter can become dirty or restricted, making it harder for the engine to get the air it needs.

A dirty or restricted air filter can sometimes contribute to:

✅ Reduced engine performance
✅ Increased fuel consumption
✅ Poor acceleration
✅ Engine running less efficiently

That’s why your air filter is checked as part of regular vehicle maintenance.

If you can't remember the last time your air filter was checked, it might be worth having it checked. There is also a cabin air filter, which also needs to be checked to ensure that you breathe clean air inside the car.

Uneven tyre wear isn't something to simply put down to “old tyres.”

It can be associated with things such as alignment, suspension, tyre pressure or other issues.

If one or more tyres are wearing differently, it's worth finding out why. Book for a check up at autoplus.com.au/mechanic/preston-car-service

🚗 Your Car Feels Different. But You Can't Quite Say Why.

Sometimes your car doesn't make a strange noise or switch on a warning light.

It just… feels different.

Are you noticing:
🔹 Pulling to one side?
🔹 Vibration through the steering wheel?
🔹 Steering that feels heavier than usual?
🔹 Changes in the way your car handles?

These can be signs of issues with your wheel alignment, tyres or suspension - and they're worth checking before a small problem becomes a bigger one.

Your car is often giving you clues. Don't ignore them. Contact the qualified mechanics at autoplus.com.au/mechanic/preston-car-service

AutoPlus Explains: Why Does Tyre Pressure Matter?

Tyre pressure isn’t just about keeping your tyres inflated - it can affect safety, handling, fuel economy and tyre life.

When your tyre pressure is too low or too high, your tyres may not perform the way they’re designed to.

Here’s why the right pressure matters:

⚠️ SAFETY — Helps maintain proper grip and road contact.
⛽ FUEL ECONOMY — Correct pressure can help reduce rolling resistance.
🚗 TYRE LIFE — Helps prevent uneven or excessive tyre wear.
🔀 HANDLING — Supports proper steering and vehicle stability.

💡 Tip: Check your tyre pressures regularly and always follow the pressure recommended by your vehicle manufacturer - you’ll usually find it on the driver’s door jamb or in the owner’s manual.
