Our Story
Shakti Australia Inc. is a non-profit community organization providing culturally competent support services for women and families of Asian, African and Middle Eastern communities across Australia.
Shakti provides advocacy, social outreach work, support for safe refuge/housing, interpretation, awareness-raising on domestic violence affecting immigrant families, and women’s support group activities. We work with government agencies, health, educational and legal agencies, to promote women’s rights, safety and well-being in Australia.
Shakti Australia is backed by the New Zealand based national community organization Shakti Community Council Inc., which has 7 member organizations & 10 centres nationwide.
