Honoured to receive the Sustainability Champion Award at the Pumicestone Awards πŸ†πŸŒΏ

A huge thank you to Ariana Doolan MP for the recognition and ongoing support of our work in the community.

It was also great to catch up with QLD Premier David Crisafulli MP , Moreton Bay Mayor Peter Flannery and Steve Minnikin MP and share more about our programs supporting people living with disabilities and mental health struggles πŸš€β™»οΈ

We’d also like to thank Cr Brooke Savige, Councillor Mark Booth and Terry Young MP for believing in our vision years ago to help create meaningful employment opportunities for people living with disabilities πŸ’™

We’re incredibly grateful for the support from our community, volunteers and partners. Thank you for backing what we do πŸ™Œ

Today’s Eco-Ability cleanup pulled more than 160kg out of the Maroochy River πŸ’ͺ including car bumper bars, coppers logs, an office chair that’s definitely seen better days, and yes… a full Christmas tree (April feels a bit late for that one πŸ˜…)

Every trip like this is a reminder of what ends up in our waterways and what can be taken back out with the right crew. Solid effort from everyone involved πŸ‘β™»οΈ

This project is proudly funded through the Queensland Government’s Community Sustainability Action Grants program.

A huge shoutout to Cotton Tree Holiday Park πŸ’™β™»οΈ

They’ve proudly supported our recycling program for over 4 years, helping us turn containers into meaningful employment opportunities for people of all abilities πŸ™Œ

The Easter bunny left us plenty of containers instead of eggs this year πŸ£β™»οΈ

Thanks for continuing to make an impact with us πŸ’š

Are you taking part in a CLEAN UP FOR AUSTRALIA DAY activity tomorrow? Check the website to find an event near you πŸ‘‰ https://www.cleanup.org.au/join-a-clean-up

1. Clean Up Australia Day began in 1990 thanks to one Aussie, Ian Kiernan, starting the movement 🧹 Now it’s the biggest community cleanup in the world πŸ™Œ
2. 22+ million Australians have joined a clean-up since it started πŸ‘
3. Cigarette butts are the most common item found 🚬😬
4. Plastic is still the biggest problem in clean-ups β™»οΈπŸš«
5. Food wrappers & drink containers dominate litter counts πŸ”πŸ₯€
6. Fishing line & tackle harm wildlife in waterways πŸŽ£πŸ¦†
7. Inland litter often ends up in the ocean via drains 🌧️➑️🌊
8. Glass & metal litter has reduced thanks to recycling schemes πŸΎπŸ‘
9. We still find tyres, trolleys & TVs πŸ›’πŸ“Ί
10. People who volunteer to clean up are less likely to litter again πŸ™ŒπŸ’š
