WORLD RECORD MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!

The world's largest all ladies' pipe band! 145 made the count (with more joining later). Players from Victoria, Tasmania, New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, and even New Zealand!

Melbourne City Square, 5 July 2026. Commemorating the 1926 Australian Ladies' Pipe Band in Scotland and the world's first all ladies pipe band formed in Melbourne in 1918.

Well done at all!

Ladies of pipe bands in Victoria (and beyond). It's not too late to be come a part of a new world record for the largest all-ladies pipe band ever assembled.

To celebrate the centenary of the Australian Ladies Pipe Band that toured the world and appeared at the then most prestigious contests in Scotland at Cowal and Braemar, be part of this special event on Sunday, 5 July.

At 2.30 pm (after the Melbourne Tartan Festival parade down Collins Street, Melbourne) participants will perform together in Melbourne's City Square. Whether you're a seasoned player or still learning, whether you have a uniform or not — you are welcome. All that's needed is your instrument (drums, harnesses and sticks available) and your enthusiasm.
