Shepparton leads the way being ranked "Best Entrepreneurial City" in Australia according to Bristax!

With a score of 6.96 out of 10, this ranking is due to a significant rise in small businesses over the past three years, as well as the fact that it has the highest number of small businesses per 100,000 people, making it a thriving hot spot for new enterprises.

This week I had the pleasure of speaking with a group of Year 9 students (and their mentors) as a part of the Connect9 program through .

Marketing, media and IT is an interest area for them as they look towards work experience next year.

We spoke about the journey in starting , the types of work we do and future job opportunities. 

Tomorrow Today’s Education Benalla Program was established in 2010 in response to Benalla ranking in the most disadvantaged 5% of LGAs in Victoria. Just over ten years into there mission, they have made a significant difference.

✅ 254 young people mentored by trained community volunteers

✅ 350% increase in work experience placements

✅ 10% increase in transition to work or study post-school

and much more.

I believe it’s vital that we offer the next generation of our workforce the opportunity to learn and experience different industries and interest areas.

It's become increasing obvious to me over the last few years how little I know about and understand my own emotions...

Day 3 at the SWISH Sales Coaching Bootcamp saw Jess Cameron take to the stage.

Key take aways from Jess's session included:

1. Anything you are avoiding doing is due to an emotion you are avoiding feeling.

2. Have a purpose that is bigger than your fear.

3. Don't settle for mediocre just because you want to avoid an emotion you don't want to feel.

4. The 5 R's of mastering emotion - Reaction, Regulate, Reset, Respond, Recovery.

Having young children has be one of the catalysts to learn more about my own emotions but also about helping my children manage their emotions...(while simultaneously managing my reaction to their emotions.)

As Jess also mentioned on the day relating to children, "We unconsciously teach suppression rather than expression".
