🌏 Refugee Week 2026 | A Million Stories 🌏

This Refugee Week, our Killester College community proudly embraced the theme "A Million Stories", recognising the milestone of Australia welcoming one million refugees since the end of World War II.

In a powerful celebration of identity, belonging and hope, students and staff shared their own family stories of migration and refuge, creating a visual display that reflects the rich diversity of our community. These stories traced journeys from Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Thailand; India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Malaysia; Indonesia and the Pacific Islands; Italy, the Netherlands, France, Greece and Germany; South America, the USA, Canada and many more.

Together, these stories represent the remarkable tapestry of cultures that make up Killester College – a community representing 152 nations.

As part of the display, students and staff contributed the word "Welcome" in their language of origin, creating a powerful symbol of hospitality, inclusion and belonging.

Inspired by the Brigidine tradition and guided by the Living Justice, Living Peace Charter, we recognise that every person carries a story of courage, resilience and hope. By listening to these stories, we deepen our understanding of one another and strengthen our commitment to walking in solidarity with all people.

A special thank you to our Justice and Celebrations Committee for bringing this project to life and creating a visual reminder that our diversity is one of our greatest strengths.
