Lol, we finished 2nd (outright and class) and completely forgot to post about it.

We swapped on the only front brakes we could find - a set of DBA XP's, which surprisingly held up OK (but accelerated wear). Final position was very close, only 3 laps behind the lead after over 600 laps (gaining a position from 3rd in the last 10 minutes - hunting down cars while the low fuel light was on was a bit disconcerting).

Given we were super disorganised, had no radio comms and the MX-5 isn't even setup for endurance racing - it's still in Tarmac Rally trim - super happy with the result.

Next event is Melonaid at the Bend in November!

Very educational weekend at Snowy River Sprint 2022 with Bernie from Smoothline Stage Notes in the nav seat.

We missed a stage due to a Rallysafe wiring issue (my fault - dodgy temporary repair at THC I had forgotten about) so did terrible outright, and this weekend was about learning and not trying to be flat out fast, but surprisingly we got 5th on one stage with my freshly rebuilt and firmer suspension trying to throw us off the road on bumpy sections (don't buy two way adjustable suspension for Tarmac Rally cars, kids!) and knowing there was still improvement on the table.

Looking forward to the next rally but it's all looking a little up in the air at the moment given MA have suspended Tarmac Rallies - fingers crossed it all pans out.

We won! **

We punctured a tyre on Stage 2, and started having issues with gear selection yesterday: bled the clutch this morning but misjudged time and missed joining the first stages. But sorted it out and joined the afternoon stages. Tim did a great job as navigator.

Megane was surprisingly brilliant: first event we've had with it properly sorted, took a bit to find confidence/it's limits but it's a very capable car once you get enough heat into the rear tyres, keeping up with much faster vehicles. Having second thoughts about selling it now!

** (... a class without any other competitors 🤣)
