🦠 Pertussis (Whooping Cough) is making a comeback!

With more cases being reported in our area, it's important to recognise the signs early. This highly contagious infection can cause severe coughing fits, especially dangerous for young children and babies.

🔹 Common symptoms:
- Uncontrollable, violent coughing
- Difficulty breathing
- 'Whooping' sound after coughing fits

💡 Prevention Tip: Vaccination is the most effective way to protect your little ones. Make sure your family’s immunisations are up to date!

Chronic Cough in Kids: When to Worry

🤧 Is your child's cough lingering for weeks? It might be more than just a common cold. Especially if it is a wet sounding cough!

A chronic cough in children can be a sign of an underlying health issue such as asthma, allergies, or even reflux.

- Respiratory tract infections
- Post-nasal drip from allergies

If your child’s cough has persisted for more than three weeks, it’s time to see a paediatrician.
