The old cam lock cracks hey…

This type of crack is one of two major repairs we do for kayaks and is generally only found with our thorough inspections.
Our mobile service team had a call out to repair a side wall crack and found the cam lock insert was cracked on the inside of the hull.
The repair itself is tricky but it also has critical dimensions to ensure the drive can be inserted after the repair.
With the heat needed to weld this area we do compensate with tack welds and double check multiple times prior to the final weld and leak test.
Happy customer getting straight back on the water.

First big job for the year but not the first time we have seen this type of repair come from under the track mounts of a feelfree kayak.
One thing is for certain once they start cracking, the crack spreads very quickly.
With a two pass weld, it’s back, stronger then ever and ready to get back on the water💪🏻
