Heavy Vehicle Trailer Mechanic – Full-Time
About Us:
Local Freight is a progressive family-owned transport company servicing metro and North Queensland with a fleet of 75 plus trucks and trailers. We carry a wide mix of general freight including various types of constructions materials, fertilisers etc.
About the Position:
Be your own Boss, we are currently seeking a dedicated and skilled Heavy Vehicle Trailer Mechanic to run our trailer workshop in Wacol. This is a full-time day shift position with optional overtime and Saturday work.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing scheduled maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on trailers.
Inspecting and repairing suspension systems, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, and braking systems.
Replacing and repairing lights, wiring harnesses, and basic electrical circuits.
Using and maintaining workplace tools and equipment effectively.
Ensuring the workshop remains clean, safe, and efficient.
Keeping detailed records of work performed and participating in safety initiatives.
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
Trade Qualified Heavy Vehicle or Trailer Mechanic (or similar trade) with 2 years post-trade experience.
HC / MC Licence preferred.
Strong technical knowledge of heavy vehicle trailer systems and components
A problem-solving mindset and proactive work ethic
Reliability, punctuality, and attention to detail
Experience in mechanical repairs and servicing of semi-trailers
$45 - $48 per hour plus superannuation.
