Stronger Together for Children in Victoria

We are delighted to announce that UMFC has joined the Foster Care Alliance, a collective of foster carers, agencies, Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations, and sector leaders committed to creating practical, solutions-focused reform for foster care in Victoria.

At UMFC, we believe that every child deserves a safe, stable and nurturing home. By joining the Alliance, we are strengthening our commitment to advocating for better outcomes for children and young people, supporting foster carers, and contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive foster care system.

The Foster Care Alliance brings together diverse voices and lived experience to drive meaningful change through:

-Advocacy that matters
-Sector-wide collaboration
-Evidence-informed reform
-Inclusion and cultural respect
-Lasting impact for children, young people and foster carers

Melinda Carlyle, UMFC Executive Director of Care and Legal Services says

"We look forward to working alongside Alliance partners to ensure that every child and young person in care has the opportunity to thrive. No single organisation can address the challenges facing foster care alone. Together, through shared expertise, lived experience and collective advocacy, we can create a stronger future for children, young people and foster carers across Victoria."
