1 final word on The Drinking In Your Honour Tour.

Thank You to every single person that came to a show. I mean that, if you bought a ticket and came to a show, you are the reason I feel the need to write this whole thing – Thank You. The biggest realisation I got from this experience is how hard it is to get people to a gig for a name that is largely unknown. We had a lot of great support, support from friends, family and strangers, people that I will never forget. Thank You.

The Venues; Oodies Cafe, Gympie Music Hall, The Beer Shed Brewing Co and The Lou Lou Room. Thanks for taking a punt on us, many refused to. The fact you answered your phone and replied to emails and then agreed to put on a show was the greatest thrill early on in the planning process. Every one of these venues have a team of people that make it happen, Thank You to every single one of you

Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley; Thanks for having us along at The Koala, Dag Pub, The Wallaby and Kedron Wavell. Your crowds are the best around and it was an absolute privilege to get to play my songs to them each night. An absolute pleasure to get to watch the best band in Australia do what they do up close and personal. Scruffy and Mitch, thanks for the back line legends!

The band; Lee Griffin, Mick Sims and Harry Schneider. 3 of the best musicians and even better blokes you’ll ever meet. Shout out to Todd Sheppard - Drummer for jumping in for 2 gigs as well, absolute legend of a bloke and drummer! From the first time I hit the road as a solo support act 5 years ago all I’ve wanted to do is take my songs on the road with a band and play them the way they were recorded, you guys made that possible. Thanks to each of you for lending yourselves and your talents to this tour. Turns out there’s not a lot we wouldn’t do for Crowded House tickets. Thank You fellas.

Tour Sponsors; These aren’t people that chucked us a free hat or a shirt but people that put their hand in their pockets and gave me cold hard cash to keep the wheels turning. Before a venue was booked or a ticket sold, I was having a beer with my mate from BADD Horse Traders telling him my plans and he said “I’m in, I’ll chuck you some cash to help pay the costs of touring and you put my name on the poster”. Just like that. So I reached out to 4 other companies for the same thing and 2 of them said yes and jumped straight on board.
BADD Horse Traders. t.ferdinandleatherco. Digger Lid. I literally could not have done it without your support. They are all Aussie owned family companies and I’m proud as f**k to have them in my corner. Give them a follow!

Thank You to Bec Gracie Publicity for going above and beyond and really trying to get as many eyes and ears on the tour through her work with promoting the song through social and main stream Media, Thanks Bec.

Slowgrass, Jordi Woods Music, Steerhead and Molly Sue, thank you all for being incredible musicians and fantastic people. It was a pleasure having you all along to open the shows on the road.

The motivation for this tour was the passing of a close mate and music mentor, Simon Reed. His passing made me decide to put all my fears, doubts and insecurities aside and just have a crack. I’m glad I did. If I’m lucky enough to be sitting on a porch 1 day when I am 70 I won’t regret not hitting the road “back in the day” and just having a go. Thank You to Simon’s family, Paula, Poppy and Harper for letting me take his name on the road. Telling a room full of strangers each night about him has been the greatest honour. I estimate I have played over 600 gigs in my life, but these 10 meant a lot more. We had 120 people through the door at The Lou Lou Room on the last night of the tour just 5 mins down the road from where we met and played so many songs together, it was no coincidence we finished it here. I hope I’ve done you proud, Brother.

Finally, the most important and my most heartfelt thanks. Doing this took a lot of time. A lot of time away and also a lot of time at home while mentally somewhere else. Thank You to my beautiful partner Sian for holding it down at home with the kids while I spent many hours on phone calls, emails and with my own thoughts trying to make this happen. Thank You for all of your support, belief and encouragement. I love you and I’m all yours for the rest of the year on Saturday mornings for netball and soccer.

There is about 150 photos in my phone from the tour but I think this one will do for now.
To the greatest drummer I ever knew, what I’d give for just one more beer with you.

Simon Reed, I’m Drinking In Your Honour.

Cheers,
Chappo.
