𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 to 𝗗𝗿. 𝗠𝗱. 𝗧𝗮𝗿𝗲𝗸 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗯 on being elevated to IEEE Senior Member Grade by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

The IEEE Senior Member Grade is awarded to professionals with over 10 years of experience who have demonstrated significant technical excellence, leadership, and impactful contributions in IEEE-designated fields.

𝗗𝗿. 𝗛𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗯 serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of CSE and Director of IUB360 at Independent University, Bangladesh. This prestigious recognition reflects his sustained academic contributions and professional standing in the global engineering community.

Introducing the 𝐅𝐚𝐛𝐋𝐚𝐛 𝐈𝐔𝐁 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥 𝐒𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬.
Each week we will highlight one of the core tools available in the lab so students can better understand how these machines support design, prototyping and project development.

𝐓𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲’𝐬 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐭𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐂𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫.

A 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 focuses an intense beam of light onto a material surface, allowing it to cut or engrave with exceptional accuracy. It is one of the most relied-on tools for fast, clean and repeatable fabrication.
Design files are prepared on a computer using vector-based software such as Illustrator, CorelDRAW or Inkscape. Once the design is finalized, the machine follows the exact paths defined in the file, allowing fully automated cutting and engraving with consistent results.

Students commonly use the 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 for:
• Turning vector designs into precise physical components
• Producing clean cuts on acrylic, MDF, cardboard and plywood
• Creating academic project parts and structural models
• Developing prototypes for product and research ideas
• Engraving patterns, text and custom artwork
• Preparing test pieces for design validation or fit checking
• Exploring detailed patterns that are challenging to produce manually

The laser cutter is available to all FabLab users who want to work with accurate digital fabrication. More tools from the FabLab inventory will be featured in the upcoming spotlight posts.

• Create 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝟐𝐃 𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬/𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐬 for campaigns and promotional content.
• Assist in developing a consistent design identity across all FabLab platforms.
• Collaborate with the FabLab team to brainstorm and execute creative ideas.
• Support 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬, 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩𝐬, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬 through engaging visuals.

𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐐𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬:
• 𝐂𝐮𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐈𝐔𝐁 𝐬𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐆𝐏𝐀 𝟑.𝟎 𝐨𝐫 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐯𝐞.
• Basic knowledge of design tools (Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Familiarity with 2D animation software (After Effects, Blender, or similar) is a plus.
• Creativity, sense of design, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Passion for electronics, robotics, and tech creativity is highly encouraged.
