Every 1 in 7 that is over 1 billion people in the world have some sort of disability as per data provided by WHO. Due to the barriers, persons with disabilities tremendously struggle in accessing services or jobs and make up a disproportionate percentage of the poorest sections of the community. Hence, not only people themselves but the societies at large are paying a high price for exclusion. To be honest, persons with disabilities, can fast track the process towards inclusive and sustainable development and promote resilient society for all as stated by United Nation. We can no longer afford to miss out on the valuable contributions people with a disability make to society!
It is high time we should really think more of the issue and unite together to make a collaborative effort to build inclusive societies accessible to all including persons with disabilities. The success of our fight against poverty and inequality totally depends on it.
