Rafiq Azam: The Poet of Green Architecture 15/03/2026

We just published a deep dive into Rafiq Azam — a poet of green architecture whose “From Ego to Eco” approach reshaped how buildings in Dhaka can breathe, gather communities, and welcome biodiversity. Why it matters to us at Studio 16: his work proves that modern, sustainable design can honor culture, follow codes, and still feel lyrical.

In the article you’ll find:
â€ĸ The three pillars of Azam’s practice — tradition, nature, mysticism.
â€ĸ How projects like S.A. Residence and South Water Garden use water courts, courtyards, and orientation to cool buildings naturally.
â€ĸ Lessons on community-focused public space revitalization and award-winning impact.

Curious how these ideas translate to your next project in Dhaka or beyond? Read the full piece and let’s talk about bringing poetic, code-compliant sustainability to your site. What green strategy would you try first — a water court, a courtyard, or native landscaping? đŸŒŋđŸ’Ŧ

Marina Tabassum: A Visionary Architect Redefining Architecture from Bangladesh 08/03/2026

I’m inspired by Marina Tabassum’s career — a powerful example of architecture rooted in climate, culture, and community. Her work, from the luminous Bait Ur Rouf Mosque to the portable Khudi Bari homes, shows how design can protect vulnerable people and respond to changing landscapes.

At Studio 16 Architects, we strive for the same balance: modern, sustainable solutions that meet local needs and international standards. We design with climate resilience, local context, and code-compliance in mind — architecture that serves people first.

Curious how these principles can shape your next development in Dhaka or beyond? Let’s talk design that’s beautiful, buildable, and resilient. Share your project in the comments or visit the link to read more. đŸŒŋđŸ—ī¸

Pollimongol Community Mosque | A Beacon of Faith, Unity & Community | Studio 16 Architects

Located in Pollimongol, Morrelgonj, Bagerhat, Khulna, this thoughtfully designed single-storied community mosque stands as a symbol of devotion, unity, and cultural identity. Spread across approximately 15 katha of land, the project is envisioned as more than a place of prayer — it is a spiritual and social hub for the local community.

Designed with a philosophy of simplicity and serenity, the mosque blends modern architectural clarity with traditional Islamic elements. Graceful arches, geometric patterns, and clean architectural lines create a timeless identity, while the spacious prayer hall ensures comfort and accessibility for all worshippers. The design emphasizes openness, allowing natural light and cross-ventilation to enhance the spiritual atmosphere and create a peaceful environment for prayer and reflection.

The surrounding landscape has been carefully planned to support both religious and community activities. A welcoming plaza, landscaped walkways, ablution facilities, and open gathering spaces transform the mosque into a vibrant community center. These outdoor areas encourage interaction, education, and social engagement, reinforcing the mosque’s role as a unifying landmark for the people of Pollimongol.

More than a religious structure, the Pollimongol Community Mosque reflects the shared values, faith, and aspirations of its community — a timeless space designed to inspire spirituality, connection, and togetherness for generations to come.
