Center for Language Studies - CLS

An intra-university public speaking & creative writing contest "Language in Action 2026", organized by the Center for Language Studies (CLS), was successfully held on Thursday, 16 April 2026. The event brought together an inspiring display of talent, enthusiasm, and intellectual energy from ULABians.

We were deeply elated by the presence of our three guests of honour: Prof. Shamsad Mortuza, our student-friendly Vice Chancellor; Professor Imran Rahman, Special Advisor to the Board of Trustees,; and our Dr. Sayeedur Rahman, Advisor & Founding President, TESOL Society of Bangladesh. Their colorful presence greatly elevated the significance of the occasion.

Following a highly competitive preliminary round in the morning, the finalists took the stage in the afternoon to compete in three signature segments—Just-a-Minute (JAM), Creative Writing, and Turn-the-Coat. Each performance reflected not only linguistic excellence but also confidence, creativity, and critical thinking at its finest.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all participants for their dedication and remarkable performances. A special thank you to our volunteers, whose tireless efforts behind the scenes ensured the smooth ex*****on of the event. Your commitment truly made a difference.
