Statement Of WHRF-BD

We are deeply troubled by the recent events in Bangladesh, where students demanding changes to the Quota system in the job sector have faced violent attacks from local political groups. These brutal incidents have tragically resulted in the loss of young lives and have caused serious injuries to many others.

The right to peaceful protest is a fundamental human right enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Students exercising this right to demand fairness and equality in their future careers should not be met with violence and intimidation. The use of force to silence their voices is unacceptable and goes against the principles of democracy and justice.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of those who have lost their lives and wish a speedy recovery to those who have been injured. We stand in solidarity with the students and call on the authorities to ensure their safety and protect their right to peaceful protest.

The World Human Rights Forum urges the government of Bangladesh to conduct a thorough investigation into these incidents and hold those responsible accountable. It is crucial to ensure that the perpetrators of this violence are brought to justice and that such acts are never repeated.

Together, we must stand against oppression and support the fundamental rights of all individuals to express their views and demand justice peacefully.
