Merry Christmas!!

Christians celebrated Christmas at the Tejgaon Holy Rosary Church on December 25, 2025. It is the largest church, or girja, in Bangladesh. This morning, the church held two large Masses attended by thousands of Christians from across Dhaka.

The church, which was rebuilt in recent decades, was originally constructed in 1677 during the reign of the great Mughal emperor Aurangzeb Alamgir by Portuguese traders. The area surrounding the church has been a Christian neighborhood for centuries. Traditionally, many residents belonged to the Rosario, Gomes, and de Cruz families. Today, however, a large part of the congregation comes from the Garo community.

To build a more equitable world and advance the Sustainable Development Goals we need strong, transparent and inclusive institutions.
