The international humanitarian convoy, Global Sumud Flotilla, set off from Barcelona toward Gaza on August 31. Along the way, there were reports of drone attacks and communication disruptions. On October 1 and 2, the Israeli navy detained at least 13 ships. The flotilla included nearly 500 passengers, among them Swedish environmental activist Greta Thunberg and Bangladeshi photographer Shahidul Alam. The organizers stated that despite all obstacles, efforts to deliver aid to Gaza would continue.
