A rare mid-century two-seater sofa designed by Dutch modernist Cor Alons for C. den Boer’s Meubelfabrieken (Gouda) in the 1950s. While Alons’ chairs from this era are well-documented, this specific sofa design is a scarce find.

The sofa has been carefully restored featuring entirely new internal padding and a fresh upholstery in a pink colorway of 'Silk' by Camira—a sustainable fabric made from a blend of wool, flax, and silk-cattail fibers.

To preserve its historical character, the laminated birch plywood frame has been left in its original condition. It shows a natural patina and minor wear consistent with its age. Structurally, the piece highlights Alons’ expertise in bent plywood, characterized by its tapered legs and sculptural, outward-flaring armrests that display the layered edges of the wood.

Cor Alons (1892–1967) was a prominent Dutch interior architect and industrial designer, known for his contribution to post-war Dutch functionalism. After studying at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague—where he later taught—Alons focused on creating furniture defined by simplicity, clean lines, and functional construction.

His work for C. den Boer in the late 1940s and 1950s marks an important period in Dutch design, heavily influenced by international developments in molded plywood. Alons developed a distinct style that combined technical ingenuity with visual lightness. Today, his designs are part of several museum collections, including the Centraal Museum in Utrecht.

Two 'Diamond' Chairs, designed by Harry Bertoia

The Diamond Chair is part of Bertoia’s 1952 wire collection for Knoll International.
The shell is formed from bent and welded steel rods, creating a geometric grid that provides structure and flexibility.

There are two versions available, one fitted with a full upholstered cover in yellow fabric, adding softness and volume while maintaining the clarity of the original wire structure. The other one has an open construction, giving the chair a light visual presence while maintaining strength.
The angled base supports the curved shell and allows for a relaxed seating position.

The chairs remain in their original vintage condition. The frame shows wear consistent with its age and regular use. As shown in the photos, the upholstery displays some fading and a few stains.
