Camera Revival

Imaging waking up, pulling out your Hasselblad , which was hidden on your shelf for 3 years, pulling the trigger and realizing it probably needs fresh batteries. Once the battery door was open, battery one flew out. However, battery two decided to be an a-hole and is all bloated an leaking all kinds of funny stuff.

Once we opened the camera we saw that the battery bloated so hard it cracked through the plastic battery chamber, right into the shutter. Luckily the shutter wasn't damaged. However, the wires were and a rewiring would be needed. The wires are attached to a folded flex and we would rather keep if folded unless we want to risk it cracking during the unfolding. We removed the damaged wires and added a new bridge. Luckily we have a couple of hundreds of meters of wires in case we need to do some factory work. It will last us a few weeks for sure. Once all was done, we removed the rest of the a-hole battery with a hammer, repaired the battery compartment and closed everything up. The Xpan will live to see another day.

Never store your cameras with batteries inside for a long period of time. I'll be honest; I'm also guilty and sometimes forget to remove them 😁
