The Southern Municipal Council has approved a proposal to regulate and license clothing collection containers across neighbourhoods.
Councillor Mohammed Darraj said the goal is to ensure charitable work continues safely, cleanly and within the law.
The move follows growing complaints that unregulated bins were cluttering streets, blocking visibility for drivers, and affecting the city’s appearance.

The government has endorsed a parliamentary proposal to tighten oversight of events, materials and programmes at private educational institutions.
Minister of Parliament and Shura Council Affairs Ghanim Al Buainain said the move supports the Education Ministry’s goal of protecting students from content that contradicts Islamic values, Bahraini traditions, and national identity.
The new process will apply to festivals, surveys and printed materials to ensure they reflect the principles of Islamic Sharia and Bahraini culture.

Bahrain and Kuwait have signed a memorandum of understanding to enhance health co-operation across key areas — from preventive and curative services to digital health and workforce training.

The deal, signed by Health Minister Dr Jalila Al Sayyed and Kuwaiti Health Minister Dr Ahmad Al Awadhi, also promotes collaboration on public health, disease control, and environmental health within regional and international frameworks.
