Awareness Training on Solar Energy Technologies
The Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department, in collaboration with the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Development, conducted a two-day Awareness Training on Solar Energy Technologies on 9–10 August 2025 at the College of Science and Technology (CST). The programme, funded by the Asian Development Bank project TA-6598 BHU: Preparing Renewable Energy for Climate Resilience, was attended by first-year students from Information Technology, Architecture, and Software Engineering.
The training introduced students to Bhutan’s energy scenario, the importance of renewable energy, and the working principles of solar photovoltaic and thermal systems. Participants engaged in hands-on experiments with solar PV panels and visited STAR C’s facilities, including hybrid, grid-tied, standalone PV systems, and solar thermal installations.
Participants expressed that the programme provided valuable technical knowledge and practical exposure, enhancing their understanding of renewable energy technologies. They also acknowledged its importance in fostering innovative thinking towards sustainable energy solutions.
The College of Science and Technology warmly thanks the ADB for supporting this initiative. The organising team acknowledges the valuable contributions of resource persons from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department and the Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Development, whose knowledge, passion, and guidance made the sessions both inspiring and impactful for our young learners.
