Generating multiple streams of income can have a major impact on your finances. Even an extra income of $500 each month could go a long way towards paying down debt or increasing your investments. We often hear about the importance of diversifying our investments, but diversifying our income streams is just as important, particularly in difficult economic times like rising inflation and/or interest rates.

So, what Makes for a Great Source of Extra Income?

We could all go out and get a second job at Home Depot or Starbucks to earn some extra income. As you might imagine, however, that’s not what I have in mind. When assessing how you can generate multiple income streams, consider these factors:

1️⃣ Flexible: The ideal source of extra income will allow you to call the shots when it comes to your time. Particularly if you have a full-time job, the last thing you want is being tied down to working a set number of hours each week at a second job.

2️⃣ Scalable: Look for income sources that have at least the possibility of generating substantial amounts of income.

3️⃣ Sustainable: The ideal extra income source will continue to generate cash even when you’re not working at it. The idea is to build something that can eventually function without you.

4️⃣ Enjoyable: Generating additional sources of income is a lot of work, so you might as well enjoy what you’re doing.

5️⃣ Affordable: I don’t like income-generating ideas that require a HUGE financial investment.

There is no downside to a side hustle.
It only benefits to build more than one source of income. The side hustle Is a new job security. This is why I started my digital business as side hustle.

4 SECRETS OF SUCCESSFUL SIDE HUSTLES

1️⃣ Tell your boss about your side hustle.

Show that you’re bringing your skills from your side hustle to your day job, having a side hustle makes you more valuable. It’s also important to emphasize that you’ll continue to give your day job your all.

2️⃣ Ask for help when you need it.

If the current pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that life is incredibly unpredictable. Being transparent about your situation and its daily challenges with those around you can help you and your business thrive. Get in the habit of expressing where and how you need support.

3️⃣ Get strategic about your time.

Start time blocking, or scheduling out a specific time to complete specific tasks on your list. You must treat your side hustle as a business even when you’re having to do it outside of your normal hours.

4️⃣ Don’t quit your day job until you have a plan.

Not every person with a side hustle dreams of leaving their 9-to-5; you may very well want to keep your day job. However if you do want to leave it, make sure you have enough money put away and/or that your side hustle has started to make more monthly than your day job.
