On Saturday, 11th April 2026, the Royal Thimphu College (RTC) Tarayana Club carried out its second activity of the semester through a field-based volunteer initiative at Dokhachu Goenpa (Ekajati Lhakhang) in Chapcha Gewog, Chukha Dzongkhag, with the active participation of 64 volunteers.

The visit was organized as part of the club’s ongoing effort to engage students in meaningful, service-oriented learning experiences beyond the classroom. During the program, members worked alongside local individuals to assist with tasks related to the site’s improvement, including handling construction materials and contributing to basic on-site labor. The activity emphasized teamwork, discipline, and a shared sense of responsibility in supporting community projects.

In addition to the work carried out, the setting provided an opportunity for members to better understand the importance of preserving religious and cultural spaces through collective action. A simple group meal was shared during the day, encouraging interaction and strengthening cooperation among participants.

On March 29, 2026, volunteers from Royal Thimphu College carried out a community service initiative at the Wangsisina Old Age Home. Members spent the day cleaning the premises, cutting grass, and weeding to help create a cleaner and more welcoming environment for the elderly residents. The experience encouraged teamwork and compassion among the participants while contributing meaningfully to the residents' well-being.

Tarayana RTC Volunteer Service at Chamgang Lhakhang

On November 22, 2025, the Tarayana RTC members engaged in a meaningful community service initiative at the Chamgang Lhakhang.

Key Activities:

· Sweeping and cleaning the interior rooms.

The Tarayana RTC recently concluded its Open Book Marathon, celebrating the community’s spirit of sharing knowledge. To honor outstanding participation, certificates were awarded to the top three contributors of the spring semester. The club extends its sincere gratitude to all individuals involved for their generous contributions and unwavering support, which were instrumental in the success of this initiative. On Saturday, 20th September 2025, members of the Royal Thimphu College (RTC) Tarayana Club successfully conducted a community service visit to the Dokhachu Goenpa, also revered as the Ekajati Lhakhang, located in Chapcha Gewog, under Chukha Dzongkhag.
The primary objective of the visit was to assist with the ongoing renovation efforts at the goenpa. With objectives centered on providing tangible preservation support, promoting civic responsibility, and fostering community ties, volunteers enthusiastically contributed through manual tasks including the collection and sorting of construction stones and site excavation. The event also featured a shared community lunch.
The program concluded with the meaningful opportunity for volunteers to participate in the religious tradition of lighting butter lamps,offering prayers for the renovation's success and universal well-being, thereby fulfilling the club's mission of compassion, service, and cultural preservation.
The initiative served not only to support the physical restoration of the sacred site but also to strengthen the bonds between the club and the local community.

On 20th August 2025, Tarayana RTC successfully convened a virtual club meeting at 7:00 PM with the participation of 158 registered members. The meeting was organized to formally orient members to the club’s guiding principles, including its motto, vision, and mission.

The session also provided a platform to discuss and share details of the upcoming events planned for the semester. Members actively engaged in the discussions, reflecting their enthusiasm and commitment towards the club’s activities.

The meeting concluded with an emphasis on collective participation and continued dedication to the objectives of Tarayana RTC.

The Tarayana RTC Club is pleased to officially welcome Mr. Norbu Zangpo as the new Club Coordinator, following a brief Khadhar ceremony. We look forward to his leadership and the fresh ideas he brings to the club.
