Another successful maritime enforcement operation in Belize's southern waters demonstrates the power of partnership, innovation, and leadership. Through the combined efforts of the Belize Coast Guard, Fisheries Department, Southern Environmental Association (SEA), and Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS), three foreign nationals engaged in illegal fishing activities were intercepted and detained near Gladden Spit on Friday night.

The operation highlights the growing effectiveness of drone technology in maritime surveillance and the strong leadership of the 2nd Fleet in protecting Belize's marine resources. Together, our stakeholders remain committed to safeguarding critical spawning aggregation sites, preserving our blue economy, and defending Belize's maritime domain for future generations. The interdiction also serves as a reminder that Belize's marine protected areas are actively monitored and that illegal activities within our waters will be detected and addressed.
