🔥 Denmark’s Big Battery Breakthrough Could Change the Grid ⚡🏠

Denmark has unveiled a molten salt battery capable of powering up to 100,000 homes for 10 hours, marking a major leap in energy storage. Developed by Hyme Energy and Sulzer, the system uses molten hydroxide salt—an industrial byproduct—as a low-cost, high-efficiency energy solution.

The 1 GWh battery heats the salt to 600°C, storing energy as thermal heat. When needed, the hot salt produces steam to generate electricity or industrial heat. Its two-tank design allows energy to be stored for up to two weeks, offering 80–90% efficiency in co-generation.

After a successful pilot in Esbjerg, a 200 MWh plant is under construction in Holstebro, expected to save Arla Foods over €3 million annually. This tech is paving the way for greener factories, renewable integration, and affordable power for the masses.
