Lucas will challenge the current bifurcated method of construction. His lecture will revisit traditional master builder approaches to design, engineering, and construction - and a return to natural materials shaped in their rawest form.

This is the 2025 iteration of the long-standing lecture series named in honour of Ed Allen of MIT. Each year MIT invites leading structural designers to campus, with a brief to show built work and explain the structural thinking behind it.
