A Victorian truck driver has been arrested after police allegedly uncovered drugs, weapons and a concealed speed limiter override device during a traffic stop at Tailem Bend.

Just before 6pm on Tuesday night, officers from the Heavy Vehicle Enforcement Unit were conducting compliance checks on the Princes Highway when they stopped a semi-trailer travelling towards Melbourne.

Police checks allegedly revealed the 39-year-old driver was already disqualified from driving. He also returned a positive roadside drug test for methamphetamine and was unable to produce a work diary as required under heavy vehicle regulations.

A search of the truck allegedly uncovered two electronic control devices, including one capable of firing projectiles, a set of knuckle dusters, prescription stimulants, cannabis, methamphetamine and a radar detector.

During a further inspection of the truck, officers allegedly located a speed limiter override device connected to a concealed switch, raising additional concerns about the vehicle's operation on public roads.

The driver was arrested and charged with driving while disqualified, possessing dangerous articles, possessing a prohibited weapon and possessing a drug of dependence.

He was granted bail and is due to appear before the Murray Bridge Magistrates Court on 3 August. Police also immediately extended his driving disqualification by a further three months.

The arrest highlights the growing focus by road policing units on heavy vehicle compliance, particularly around driver fatigue, drug use, vehicle modifications and road safety. Authorities continue to warn that heavy vehicles involved in serious crashes can have devastating consequences, making compliance operations a key part of efforts to reduce deaths and injuries on Australian roads.

A South Coast family is continuing its desperate search for 25-year-old Corey Stubbs, who has now been missing for more than 10 weeks.

Corey was last seen around 8pm on March 22, 2026, in the Sussex Inlet area of New South Wales. Police describe him as an Aboriginal man, and investigators are urging anyone with information to come forward.

His mother, Sonya Williams, says the uncertainty has been devastating for the family.

"Every day without Corey has been heartbreaking. I continue to hold onto hope and pray for answers," she said.

Ms Williams said special occasions, including Mother's Day, have been particularly difficult as the family continues to wait for news.

"My family faces another day of uncertainty, grief and longing for a son, brother, father, nephew, cousin and friend who is deeply loved."

A $10,000 reward has been offered for information that leads to Corey's whereabouts.

Family and friends have also launched a fundraising campaign to help cover the costs of ongoing search efforts. Funds will go towards fuel, travel expenses, search equipment, drones, search dogs, awareness campaigns and increasing the reward pool.

"Someone out there knows something. Even the smallest piece of information could help bring our family the answers we desperately need," the family said.

Anyone with information about Corey Stubbs is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
