🍦 When a small business steps up, an entire community benefits. ❤️
A heartfelt thank you to Pearle's in Paradise for choosing to support the Upper Clements Community Hall through their recent ice cream fundraiser.
Thanks to the incredible generosity of Pearles in Paradise and everyone who stopped by for a sweet treat, nearly $600 was raised in just one weekend!
That money is already making a real difference.
After the recent break-in, we’ve been faced with an unexpected reality: before we can replace our stolen generator, we first need to install a security system to help protect it. Those upfront costs are significant for a small volunteer-run community hall.
Your support has taken a tremendous amount of pressure off our shoulders and moved us one step closer to securing our hall and replacing a generator that serves our community during events and emergencies.
It’s easy to underestimate what supporting a local business can accomplish, but this is proof that an ice cream cone can help strengthen an entire community.
Please join us in thanking the wonderful team at Pearles in Paradise. If you haven’t been lately, stop in for one of their delicious treats. Every visit supports a business that believes in giving back to the community it calls home.
From all of us at the Upper Clements Community Hall—thank you, Pearles in Paradise. Your kindness means more than you know. 🍦💙

Something exciting is happening in Upper Clements!
Like many small community organizations, we’ve recently faced some unexpected challenges. Following the break-in at the Hall and the added expense of installing security measures, we’ve had to get creative about how we raise funds to keep our community hall thriving.
One of those ideas is our brand-new online store! 🎉
Upperclementshall.ca
Here you can purchase community-inspired merchandise such as t-shirts, sweatshirts, tote bags and more, with proceeds helping to support the Hall, community events, and ongoing operating expenses.
To make the merchandise truly representative of the place we call home, we’re launching an Artist Emblem Challenge!
We’re inviting artists to submit original designs inspired by the landscapes, beauty, history, and rural character of Upper Clements and other communities in Annapolis County. The design should represent our community and countryside—not the Hall itself—and be suitable for use as an emblem on merchandise.
This is a volunteer contribution and a wonderful opportunity to leave a lasting mark on our community. A selection process is currently being developed, and the artist or artists whose designs are chosen will be announced this fall.
Questions? We’d love to hear from you.

There once was an art festival banner to raise,
And a hall that was getting its summer facelift phase.
Tim had the plans,
The lists and demands,
And somehow kept track of a dozen different ways.
Don, Emery, and Ira looked up to the sky,
With ladders and tools and a collective “let’s try.”
There was lifting and fussing,
And possibly some cussing,
But eventually the banner was hung nice and high.
Meanwhile Sheila and Chris took a different approach,
Declaring no w**d would be safe from their encroach.
They w**ded and cleaned,
Till the grounds fairly gleamed,
And the hall looked ready to welcome the whole coach.
So here’s to the crew who make good things appear
The planners, the w**ders, the folks full of cheer.
The banner is flying,
The festival’s coming,
And Upper Clements is lucky to have you all here. ❤️🎨🎶

While we are saddened by the recent break-in and the unexpected security expenses that now fall on the shoulders of our small volunteer-run organization, our spirits remain high and our commitment to this community is stronger than ever.
Yesterday, the Upper Clements Community Hall board gathered for another Arts Festival planning session, and despite the challenges, the room was filled with positivity, laughter, creativity, and excitement for what lies ahead.
Every member of the board is working hard behind the scenes to create a beautiful two-day festival that celebrates local talent, brings neighbours together, and showcases everything we love about our community. We are continually reminded that while setbacks happen, they do not define us. What defines us is the incredible dedication of volunteers, supporters, artists, musicians, sponsors, and residents who believe in building something special together.
Thank you to everyone who has offered encouragement, shared our posts, volunteered their time, or simply cheered us on. Your support means more than you know.
We can’t wait to welcome you to the Upper Clements Community Hall Arts Festival on July 25 & 26. It’s shaping up to be something truly special.
Congrats!!

🍦 Ice Cream for a Great Cause! ❤️
This Saturday and Sunday, we're giving back to our community.
For every ice cream sold, we'll donate $1 to the Upper Clements Community Hall to help replace their generator after it was stolen.
It's a small way we can all come together to support a place that's important to so many in our community. Every cone, sundae, milkshake, and treat makes a difference!
So stop by, enjoy your favourite ice cream, and know that your purchase is helping a great local cause.
Thank you for helping us turn a sweet treat into something even sweeter. 🍦❤️

If you read the latest edition of The Chatterbox, you will have seen that we were robbed. Sometime recently, a Champion Dual Fuel 9000-Watt Generator was stolen from the Upper Clements Community Hall.
The loss is upsetting not simply because something was taken, but because of what that generator represents.
Many people may not realize that the Upper Clements Community Hall is a designated comfort centre. During prolonged power outages, severe weather events, or other emergencies, the hall serves as a safe place where neighbours can gather to stay warm, cool off, charge phones and medical devices, receive important information, and support one another.
To maintain that designation, we are required to have a generator on site. Without one, we risk losing our ability to serve our community in times of need.
For a small volunteer-run organization, this is a significant setback. The cost of replacing the generator, combined with the additional security measures now needed to protect community property, comes at a time when every dollar matters. While we carry insurance, the deductible alone represents a 1/3 of the cost of a replacement.
The Community Hall has always operated on a simple belief: that everyone deserves access to an affordable gathering place. Whether it’s a birthday party, family reunion, community supper, fundraiser, celebration of life, meeting, or special event, we’ve worked hard to keep rental rates as low as possible so that cost is never a barrier.
We don’t want this theft to change that. Instead, we’re turning to the people who have always made this community special — our neighbours.
If every household that values the hall contributed even $5, $10, or $20, we would be well on our way to replacing the generator and ensuring the hall remains ready to serve the community when it is needed most.
If you are able to help, donations may be sent by e-transfer to: [email protected]
Please include the word “Generator” in the message section so we know where to allocate your donation.
We also ask community members to keep an eye on local buy-and-sell groups, online marketplaces, and classified listings for a Champion Dual Fuel 9000-Watt Generator. If you believe you have located it, please contact the appropriate authorities rather than approaching anyone yourself.
The Upper Clements Community Hall belongs to all of us. It has been the backdrop for countless memories, celebrations, friendships, and community events over the years. With your help, it will continue to be there for future generations and when our neighbours need it most.
Thank you for your support, your generosity, and your belief in community. 💗
🙏🏼To whoever took our generator:
Times are tough, and we recognize that everyone is carrying burdens we may not see. If you didn’t know that this generator helps keep our hall operating as a designated comfort centre during emergencies, we understand.
We are asking, neighbour to neighbour, that you please return it. No questions asked. No judgement. No confrontation. Just an opportunity to make things right.
The hall has been there for generations of community members, and we hope it will continue to be there for generations to come.
❤️ If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this post. Sometimes the smallest act of kindness reaches exactly the right person. UpperClementsHall.ca

🇨🇦 A Huge Thank You to Home Hardware! 🇨🇦
The Upper Clements Community & District Association would like to extend our sincere thanks to the wonderful team at Home Hardware for their generous donation of a brand-new barbecue to our community hall.
This barbecue will help us serve up burgers, hot dogs, and good times at our upcoming Arts Festival, while also supporting future community events and fundraisers throughout the year.
Community halls don't thrive on membership fees alone. They thrive because of neighbours helping neighbours, volunteers giving their time, and local businesses stepping up to support the communities they serve.
It is thanks to the generosity of businesses like Home Hardware that we are able to continue creating events, bringing people together, preserving our hall, and building a stronger community for everyone.
Please join us in thanking Home Hardware for investing in Upper Clements and the people who call this area home. ❤️
