Stop focusing solely on weight loss when you go to the gym.
I talk alot about weight loss because I have had and do have a lot of clients that come to me primarily to lose weight.
I would never force someone to have a goal they dont want for themselves.
But i've noticed, especially for women, that the fitness industry and gyms are targeted mostly for weight loss.
Which makes a lot of people, especially beginners, think that gyms are a place to try to burn calories and everything you do there should be in service to that.
The gym shouldnt be viewed as a place to just lose weight. It's about building confidence, gaining new strength and so much more.
And when you focus on your strength and building a better relationship with food, weight loss is usually the result anyway.
I honestly think most people in the gym should have goals other than weight loss. Weight loss if you so choose, should only be for a short period of time before your back to focusing on other goals.

A lot of people don't understand the difference between weight loss and fat loss!
They think scale going up I do good, scale going down I do bad.
That's extremely black and white way of thinking!
Understand that your weight is going to fluctuate for a variety of reasons including a loss or gain in:
- body fluid
- lean mass
- body fat
Additionally your body is going to hold weight for a variety of reasons as well including:
- sodium and carbs increasing water rendition
- stress increasing cortisol (which will increase fluid retention)
- when and how you weigh you weigh yourself!
However if your calories are in check the fluctuations are most likely not happening from fat gain!
This is why you shouldn't tie so much emotion to the scale! Write down the number as just data and move on.
