Standing beside a private jet makes people think success is about having more discipline, more motivation, or more willpower.

But after nearly 30 years of coaching, I've learned that's not true at all.

The most common thing I hear is:

"I just can't stay consistent."

Here's what I've learned after nearly 30 years of coaching:

Consistency is not a personality trait.

It's not something you're born with.
It's not something other people magically have and you don't.

Consistency happens when the plan actually fits your life.

Too many people are trying to follow workouts, meal plans, and routines that look great on paper but don't work in the real world.

They're trying to eat perfectly.
Train perfectly.
Stick to an all-or-nothing approach.

Then life happens.

A busy week.
A stressful day.
A vacation.
A sick kid.
A missed workout.

And suddenly they feel like they've failed.

But the problem isn't a lack of willpower.

The problem is that the plan was never built around their real life in the first place.

The best fitness plan isn't the perfect one.

It's the one you can actually follow when life gets messy.

That's where real results come from.

If you've been beating yourself up for not staying consistent, maybe it's time to stop blaming yourself and start looking at the plan.
