Physio visits in your home to address mobility problems, falls prevention, seniors' health & wellness

03/31/2021

Hooray for spring! It opens up the possibility for more outdoor home care physio sessions. I don't always need to come inside to provide treatment, unless you want me to. Sessions can take place in whatever location works best for you -- your backyard, on your front porch, or out for a walk in your neighbourhood.

With a little creativity and flexibility, we can find a way to address your physiotherapy needs and honour your comfort limits mid-pandemic. I am very understanding and accommodating. Please call or email me for more information. If you are arranging care for a loved one, rest assured I am happy to communicate with you in terms of progress and treatment along the way, as long as I have consent from the patient of course. 😊

Make home care the priority for seniors, advocates say | CBC News 02/16/2021

This is an interesting read re: home care. Over the years, when I worked as a publicly-funded physiotherapist, I had many clients that wanted to stay at home rather than moving into Long Term Care. Too often, they couldn't because they simply didn't have enough support at home to meet their basic needs. I'm pleased to hear there's work being done to increase supports in the community for our seniors. I hope that this funding will extend to the professional services as well such as OT, PT, nursing, SW, dietician, etc. We all have vital roles to play in keeping our patients healthy, safe, independent, and living their best lives.

Make home care the priority for seniors, advocates say | CBC News As the Ontario government pledges to build more long-term care beds, seniors' advocates say that investing in robust home care would not only allow people to age where they want to be, but also save money.

Valentine's Day 2021 = Vaccine #2 day for me. I'm grateful for this and hopeful that the vaccine rollout will pick up momentum in the weeks and months ahead.

It's wonderful to be up and rolling again! In-home physiotherapy is a great option to consider if you're feeling uneasy about heading out to a clinic for therapy. I can bring physio to you! I've made some changes to the way I operate because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to cleaning my hands excessively and disinfecting equipment between clients (no change from how I practiced before!), I wear a fresh procedural mask and I have gloves, gowns, goggles and face shield in my trunk. I change my clothes between home visits and I disinfect my indoor shoes. To reduce in-person time, aspects of my assessment and treatment are offered virtually. Before each visit I will call to complete a COVID screening and remind you to clean your hands and put on a cloth mask if it's safe for you to do so. Want to know more?
